Do I need a website is I have a Facebook page?
It’s not exactly an age-old question, but it is one that pops into the minds of any business owner out there. If you have a Facebook page, do you even need a website anymore?
Facebook does everything these days. It’s a great way to increase brand awareness, build a community, and can even help you make some sales.
It all depends on the type of business you have, and what you want to accomplish. Over 60 million business pages are currently active on Facebook, just like you.
And some most likely don’t have a website of their own.
Is that a good strategy?
It’s not imperative to have both a Facebook account and a website for your business. That’s the short answer.
If you analyze your business needs, and the results your Facebook page generates, and you’re pleased with what you see, then you could very well survive without a website.
However, if you’re also planning to expand your business, and potentially increase revenue, then you should consider building a website as well.
The conversation was never 'websites vs Facebook pages' as that would imply that one is superior to the other, which is not true at all.
Your Facebook page is great for building an audience and creating a direct line of communication between you and your fans.
Today, customers want to use brands or businesses they can interact with on social media, because they feel they can get to know the brand this way.
The website, on the other hand, acts as an aggregator of all the information about your business.
You can have a Facebook page, TripAdvisor profile, Twitter account, and whatever other public profile customers can follow and stay updated.
But your website is where new ones can get to know you, and then choose to follow you.
By only having a Facebook page, you are essentially limiting your business potential.
There are many compelling reasons why all business should have one, but we chose to stick with three of the most telling:
With a website, you could potentially get a lot more customers to your business if you also implement SEO strategies to improve your search engine rankings.
Facebook may be a good way to talk to your customers, but people don’t turn to this platform when they need to look for something. They still need Google or other search engines for that.
Facebook limits you to comply with the things the platform is equipped to do or based on Facebook’s own preferences of what it wants to show.
That means you could potentially not be able to share some information valuable to your business, just because Facebook thinks it’s not important.
With a website, you may not be in direct competition with countless other businesses like on Facebook.
With 60 million accounts active, all of them are fighting for the same newsfeed, which is a pretty limited space.
Websites have a lot more potential to grow because the space they can do it in is virtually infinite.
A Facebook page or webpage?
Both are powerful tools you can use to grow a business, but while anyone can set-up a business page, it may be more difficult to create a website.
